ILP #1 - Design - Podcast

For my first Independent Learning Project I created a podcast. I have always appreciated podcasts as a fun and easy way to obtain knowledge. You can easily, ride to school, walk, run, while listening to a podcast. I, very excitedly, created my own. I had to edit it because my roommates and I couldn't stop giggling at the thought of me creating a podcast and pretending to be a high school English teacher. See, podcasts bring people together! They're fun to listen to and create! My podcast is me reading an excerpt from the essay "Learning Curve" in the David Sedaris book: Me Talk Pretty One Day and asking students to respond in the comments. Here is the link so you, too, can pretend to be a member of my English class:

  2. Great job creating your podcast Emma! However, the next time you make a podcast, you might want to write out what you are trying to say (other than the excerpt) because you stumbled a little bit when you were talking as a teacher.

  3. I don't have headphone but I will definitely listen to this later. I have never created a podcast before, let alone listen to one. This is actually really cool and I can't wait to check it out. I might even try creating one.

  4. Emma,
I did a podcast too! I love this a lot! I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes podcasts or to hear themselves talk. One thing I would say to fix (and I need to do the same) is planning out your podcast before you record it. You did stumble a little over your words and your thoughts weren't too clear here, but I also understand the pressure you were under while doing this.
This is a more polished type of example: https://i.infopls.com/images/audio/poems/music.mp3
    Great work!

  5. Thank you guys for your feedback! I will definitely have a script next time! I chose to ad-lib my podcast because some of my favorite professionals do the same, and it helps me as a listener feel more connected to what they're saying. If I'm listening to a completely polished podcast I get bored and immediately feel like the person is creating the podcast to create the podcast, not because they care about relaying their thoughts in a fun, creative way.
